Bonaire diving paradise
2022If you think of the island Bonaire, you say: diving paradise, flamingo's and donkeys eveywhere, happy friendly people and alway sunny. Bonaire is unique, it is a beautiful island for diving, surfing at Lacbaai or walking in Kralendijk. A round of Slagbaai should not be missed when you go to Bonaire! How beautiful it is there with all kinds of beautiful bays, the salt pans with flamingos, iguanas and donkeys everywhere. At the lively markets they sell driftwood signs with fun sayings such as BonBini and dushi, unique reusable bags have been made from this image, now for sale at Van den Tweel supermarket.
Highlights from dushi curacao
2018The bus tour on curacao shows many beautiful places, country houses dolphins palm trees and you can also relax in the sun. At the seaquarium they swim with dolphins and at the end of the day my bikini is hanging to dry again, there is always a beautiful bay or beach for a refreshing dip in the beautiful turquoise water, island life is so simple and delicious every day is a pleasure.

Happy to be on an island like Curacao
2022This is the first in the series of colorful tropical bags for Van den Tweel (Albert Heijn). Of course I chose a very cheerful look for this, so the houses of the well-known Handelskade in Punda with a happy local girl with nice tails in the foreground. This is a very nice souvenir, reusable and handy because everyone has to go shopping anyway. Then it will be nice and colorful from now on and that's fun.

2022I designed this goat series for the stamps of the island of Curacao. Goats are a lot of fun to paint, they have something crazy because of the horizontal pupils of their eyes, they have this, because when they are grazing, they can see everything, including possible danger. A goat is usually very curious and often comes around, I think it is a very friendly animal with often a funny cheerful appearance, it almost seems like they are smiling at you.

They walk wonderfully freely in nature and if you drive on the road to Westpunt on Curacao, there is a very good chance that you will encounter them. They then look at you curiously and when you smile, they smile back, I like goats.

2019Snoopdog and Lux at the country house on the island of Curacao. Country houses were the main buildings of the island's plantations, a kind of farm, but then Caribbean with beautiful colonial architecture, often painted yellow with green or white windows. In my painting I have painted two happy dogs, there are many street dogs and fortunately also many shelters, but it is nice if people instead of ordering a purebred puppy adopt a sweet local dog.

2020Curacao is a unique sunny beautiful island. It has beautiful monumental buildings, country houses and cozy streets and alleys with each house its own cheerful color. Willemstad is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Here you can walk from Punda to Otrobanda via the famous Queen Emma Bridge or the pontoon bridge. When the pontoon bridge opens because a boat has to get in or out, you can take the ferry from one side to the other. The high bridge the juliana bridge is for the cars.

Kiki and the goat in Curacao
2019Kiki the dog and her friend the goat, I made this painting for a stamp for the island of Curacao. You come across goats everywhere in the city, but also at West Point they often walk in groups, what you also see in the streets are the West Pointers, the dogs. It is not always easy for them and luckily there are shelters and foundations that feed the dogs resquepaws foundation dog, carf, the dog on this stamp is my own dog Kiki also a west pointer of the street. It's nice when you can do something and that's how Kiki became my best buddy. now she flies around the world on a postage stamp, a nice gesture I think.

2019Colorful monumental Kunuku house with a beautiful iguana in the garden. This is the image of Curacao when you drive into the mundi, they are former slave houses, much to see at the plantations in the countryside. The walls are angled inwards and the kitchen is outside. the houses are made of clay and wickerwork of branches and the roofs of straw and reed. Later they replaced this with stone and roof tiles, they now have a veranda and the kitchen is now also inside.

Curacao almost only has colored houses and beautiful old monumental buildings in the Otrobanda and Pietermaai small districts, these houses have been beautifully renovated, they are characteristic because of the wooden shutter windows, so the house can still blow through because it is quite warm.

The city is on the UNESCO list of historic protected houses. This quay on Annabaai is a tourist attraction in Willemstad. It has an old Dutch appearance due to the beautiful facades, the quay is 200 meters long. The Queen Emma Bridge is a moving bridge with boats and connects to the other side of Otrobanda. the houses used to be warehouses for trade, hence the name Handelskade, now they are nice shops and restaurants. hopi dushi
Summertime, little curacao is a small paradise
2019Klein Curacao is a paradise, flip flops off and go barefoot on an adventure with Bounty adventures, this is by far the best boat trip you can take to this small beautiful island. There is a lighthouse on the island here you can climb in and up for a beautiful view. The water is blue blue very clear and there are many turtles swimming, they are used to the tourist and the nice thing is that when you go snorkeling they do not swim away so you can study them well and they are beautiful animals.

Fortunately, these west pointers are no longer stray dogs. There are many non-profit foundations that do a lot for the stray dogs. For example, the Dog foundation live here about 100 dogs and the accommodations are cleaned by volunteers, Carf feeds on the street, you can't offer them all a home either, unfortunately. rescue pawspippi's shelter and the island's animal protection are also doing everything they can. Better to adopt a dog than buy a puppy from the pet store, let's help where we can!

If you want to go from Punda to Otrobanda, people can walk across the wobbly pontoon bridge, the Queen Emma Bridge.
Caribbean dogs
2018The 3 adventurous dogs Sunshi, Jippie and Divi painted with a wink, Sunshi comes from Playa Forti where the people splash from the rocks into the water. Bulltje with his beer mug because Jippie is from Germany and Divi found in Willywood, now enjoying a wonderful life. Divi is a sweet westpointer who is a real lucky as a street stray dog he has been adopted and has got a beautiful life.
These Westpointers are no longer streetdogs.

Cheerful dogs (westpointers) on the beach at the beach house in Curacao, luckily a lot is already being done for the stray dogs on the islands of Bonaire Curacao and Aruba, in addition to animal protection there are a number of people who are foster, there are foundations that try to do everything do for these westpointers. there are feeding programs from Carf, the Dog foundation has about 100 dogs and resque paws take care of many puppies and look for homes for them. Best dog Buddies
2015Best friends on the road in the convertible beetle. VW. How nice, all the dogs are so happy they can all come along, I made this painting because 1 of my dogs has glaucoma, she has a damaged optic nerve, so she has 1 large eye, there is fluid in it, if she gets pain, the eye will unfortunately have to get out. But to show her that she is no different from the others, I painted all dogs with 1 bulb eye on the canvas painting.

On Curacao you have the world famous flamingo Bob. Bob is very nice because he also goes to school and just walks through the class.

Zeeland The Netherlands
2018Zeeland girl at Beachclub Perry's in Zeeland with a beer, here in Scharrendijke on the brewersdam there is always plenty to do and a lot to see. It is not just lying on the beach, no you can also paddle boarding between the seals in the distance you can see the windmills it is anything but boring. The restaurant is highly recommended with the tastiest ingredients, I'm a fan.
The meaning of Johnny cake, journey bread
2018At the Bonbini snek in curacao you order the most delicious local dishes and drinks such as my favorite de coco frio the coconut milk you drink straight from the nut. The dushi behind the bar must have baked a bolo, otherwise there's definitely Johnny cake on the menu. The history of Johhny cake is actually very nice: it is the Antillean bread for traveling. it has nothing to do with a cake, they are airy buns that are fried in oil. the word Johnny comes from a journey which means journey. The sandwiches have a very long shelf life, so ideal. Originally the Johnnycakes come from Trinidad and Tobago.
Curacao from above the Annabay in the Caribbean
2018Annabay Curacao, Handelskade, driftwood signs and the famous pontoonbridge. The Emmabrug and Julianabrug connect Punda and Otrobanda {Willemstad} in Curacao. In this painting I have captured the Annabaai as the central point. This bay can fill history books. There was always a lot of trade on the Handelskade, hence the name. The colored buildings were then warehouses, now they are cozy restaurants and nice shops. Characteristic is that you will come across nice signage from the washed up driftwood signs all over the island. You can easily find the woods on the well-known woods bay, for more info send me an email and I'll show you the way. They are often sold as souvenirs and it is really something tropical and the nice thing is they are all different in shape.
Handelskade and historical buildings
2016Curacao has a quay that is very well known and that is the Handelskade in Punda. This quay was extremely important for the economy of Curacao, many people earned a living here by loading and unloading goods that came by boat. These nice colored houses used to be warehouses for trade. The beautiful historic buildings on the quay owe their facades to the Netherlands. The quay is 200 meters long from the Queen Emma Bridge (the pontoon bridge) to the entrance of the Waaigat. Today the warehouses, restaurants and shops and other businesses are on Anna Bay.

2018Day at the ocean on famous beaches in Curacao. Driftwood signs with names of famous beaches on Curacao, A wonderful day at the sea that is enjoyable. Grote Knip, also called Playa Abou, is a 40-minute drive from Willemstad but beautiful white sand and turquoise water without large resorts. Playa Kalki is well known for its limestone cliffs and fine white sand. Porto Marie Beach, or Playa Porto Mari is one of the best known and most beautiful beaches of Curacao. The beach is owned by the Porto Mari plantation. Very nice snorkeling and if you are lucky you will meet Willy en Woody, these are the pigs who also enjoy here on the beach. Playa Piskado is a small beach just above Grote Knip in the north of Curacao. People come here mainly because of the diving and snorkeling and the huge amount of turtles that are fed by the fishermen, hence the name piscado = fish Kokomo located in the Vaersenbaai just above Blauwbaai Beach is also worth a visit. this looks very nice because of the mountains around it, there is a cozy catering business where local music is often played. Cas Abou or Abao has the most beautiful water of all the beaches of Curacao. It also has an impressive beach with white sand and palm trees, but the coral reef under water makes it especially popular with snorkelers and it is beautiful. Mambo Beach is one of the most famous beaches of Curacao. It is located at the landscaped Sea Aquarium Beach where you will find the Curaçao Sea Aquarium. There is a large boulevard with many restaurants and beautiful shops, if you fancy a party then this is the place to be. I could write for hours like this, but time and again I find my inspiration here on the island. But I'm not a tour guide, I'm an artist, so I'm going to paint again.

Even the cocktails here are blue because of the famous blue liqueur called blue Curacao. Blue Curacao is originally made with peels of a kind of orange, the Laraha, which has a somewhat bitter taste. Another nice thing, people greet each other in the street with bondia, except on Monday when they say bon siman which means have a nice week.

The theory is that a captive lionfish was released or escaped from an aquarium in the Atlantic Ocean off Florida. Beautiful to see, but also a big problem for the coral reefs. They have no natural enemies and the female can lay 2 million eggs per year. It is a fish-eating fish and therefore there is little balance in the sea. fish that keep the coral clean, but if they get eaten there is a big problem. The spines of a lionfish are poisonous and can even be deadly so if you want to hunt them you have to know how, also so that you don't damage the coral.
