Curacao has a quay that is very well known and that is the Handelskade in Punda. This quay was extremely important for the economy of Curacao, many people earned a living here by loading and unloading goods that came by boat. These nice colored houses used to be warehouses for trade.
The beautiful historic buildings on the quay owe their facades to the Netherlands. The quay is 200 meters long from the Queen Emma Bridge (the pontoon bridge) to the entrance of the Waaigat. Today the warehouses, restaurants and shops and other businesses are on Anna Bay.
